Hollyhock Badminton Academy was established in 2010 by Mr. BR Harish Kumar, with an intention to provide quality high performance coaching to badminton aspirants.
Harish Kumar, the Head Coach, is a seasoned Badminton player. Having abundant knowledge and skill about the sport, he understands the importance of providing structured coaching programs to the players of all levels and thus providing quality coaching is pivotal at Hollyhock along with the precise infrastructure.
We reckon that quality coaching must be accessible to every badminton aspirant to enhance their skills further. With our coaching methodologies, we endeavour to deliver professional training programs that cater to grass-root levels to professionals.
Mr. B R Harish Kumar, Head Coach of Hollyhock Badminton Academy had developed passion towards Badminton at a very young age. Hailing from a small town called Mudigere, Chikmagalur to a middle-class family, he had to struggle hard in the initial days to pursue his dream of playing badminton.
He had to face many hurdles and was forced to give up countless things throughout the journey to accomplish his dream in badminton. Thus, the journey motivated him to train badminton aspirants from difficult backgrounds for free.
Amidst all the difficulties, he began his training at the Canara Union and excelled in the junior level before playing for Karnataka state team for four years. He also guided the side to a silver medal in the Punjab National Games in 2001.
Years later, Harish quit his job as a First Grade Clerk in Postal Department and started to relive his dream. He then pursued badminton career earnestly and even completed Advanced Certification Coaching course in Thailand.
He is a firm believer in the importance of basic technical skills and strict discipline on-court for a person to excel oneself as a player, and this can be experienced in each of his training academies.
Till date Harish Kumar has trained more than 800 students effectively and few of his students haved played for the country, which is a testament to the dedication and success as a coach.
True to his vision, he consistently looks out for talents who have a zeal towards the sport and encourage them to reach their goal.
